Master in Pharmacy (MPharm)

Please note that the Levels of study referred to below are those used in the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ).

To qualify for the award of Master in Pharmacy, a student must pass 120 credits at Level 4, 120 credits at Level 5, 120 credits at Level 6 and 120 credits at Level 7.

To qualify for the award of Master in Pharmacy with Integrated Training Year, a student must pass 120 credits at Level 4, 120 credits at Level 5, 120 credits at Level 6 and 240 credits at Level 7.

A student’s degree classification will be calculated as follows:

FIRST CLASS HONOURS

A weighted average module mark of at least 70%;

OR a weighted average module mark of at least 68% AND a mark of at least 70% in the Level 7 module;

SECOND CLASS HONOURS (Division I)

A weighted average module mark of at least 60%;

OR a weighted average module mark of at least 58% AND a mark of at least 60% in the Level 7 module;

SECOND CLASS HONOURS (Division II)

A weighted average module mark of at least 50%;

OR a weighted average module mark of at least 48% AND a mark of at least 50% in the Level 7 module;

DEFINITIONS:

Weighted average module mark: the sum of 20% of the module mark obtained at Level 5, 30% of the module mark obtained at Level 6 and 50% of the module mark obtained at Level 7.

Module: a 120 CATS-credit unit.

NOTE:

For students repeating a year of study at Level 5, 6 or 7 it will be the mark achieved for the module taken in the repeat year that will be used in the classification.

For students studying the Master of Pharmacy with Integrated Training Year, where the final two years are studied at Level 7, the average of the two Level 7 module marks will be used in the classification.
