Dr Gianpiero Di Leva
The laboratory led by Dr Gianpiero Di Leva is interested in understanding how transcriptional signalling and noncoding RNAs crosstalk to shape the aggressive behaviour of cancer cells. Recently, the laboratory has focused on medulloblastoma, the most common form of paediatric malignant brain tumour, and it is currently evaluating the therapeutic efficacy of multiple microRNAs that are highly repressed in medulloblastoma. Concurrently, the laboratory is investigating how cell cycle inhibitors impair medulloblastoma cell proliferation. Through various collaborations, the laboratory aims to identify innovative therapeutic strategies that will improve the clinical use of well-established chemotherapeutic drugs and change our approach to treatment.
