NTEK Prize winners Summer 2019
Warm congratulations to NTEK PhD student Farhana Chowdhury for winning first prize for best oral presentation at the Keele University Institute for Science and Technology in Medicine Early Careers Symposium on 23rd May 2019. Farhana's presentation was about her research on growing oligodendrocyte precursor transplant cells in neurosurgical grade biomaterials. Farhana is pictured above with Institute Director Professor Nick Forsyth, Postgraduate Research Director Dr Clare Hoskins and fellow prize winner for best poster Jacob Ranjbar.
Warm congratulations also go to NTEK PhD student Jessica Wiseman who won second prize for her presentation and scientific poster at the Cross Cadre Conference for the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and Medical Research Council (MRC) Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Regenerative Medicine 2019, held at Loughborough University on 3rd April 2019. Jessica presented a poster entitled “A Neurosurgical Grade Biomaterial as a Regenerative Matrix for an Implantation Therapy after Traumatic CNS Injury”. The keynote speakers and judges for the symposium were from the EPSRC, Innovate UK, Catapult and GSK.
Jessica Wiseman (pictured with her poster below) also won 2nd prize at the tenth CDT Joint Conference in Regenerative Medicine, held at the University of Manchester on Friday 12th July 2019. This collaborative event includes the CDT’s programmes across The University of Manchester, the University of Leeds, Nottingham University, Loughborough University and Keele University. Jessica presented her work on the use of neurosurgical grade biomaterials as a regenerative matrix for traumatic nervous system injuries.
