Dr Chris Adams
I work within the Neural Tissue Engineering group at Keele (NTEK). My research has two main aims (i) improving cell transplantation therapies for neurological repair and (ii) establishing reductionist injury models for benchtop testing of new neurological therapies. We hope to address the first through the use of tissue engineering strategies such as biomaterial encapsulation of cells and remote cell manipulation by electrical stimulation. For the latter, we are investigating the pathomimetic responses to injury introduced into chick embryo organotypic slices of neural tissue and human cell cultures.
