Dr Patricia Ragazzon
My research interests are based on discovery and therapeutic development. As a trained chemist, I have developed small molecules as well as aptamers for treating different conditions, including cancer, inflammation, and infection. I have also worked on natural products extraction and characterisation. I am mostly interested in the Sirtuin (SIRT) family enzymatic modulation pathways. Our own studies found SIRT1 to induce death on cancer cells and countless reports imply SIRts reduce inflammation. Alongside Carolyn Voisey, we are working on elucidating pathways of inflammation dementias such as Alzheimer, and the role of SIRTs in reducing inflammation.
