Software and systems engineering
The Software and systems engineering research theme encompasses facets of software engineering and systems-oriented research in computer science.
Software engineering at Keele evolves from significant research contributions to evidence-based software engineering and systematic literature review methodologies made by emeritus Professors Barbara Kitchenham and Pearl Brereton. The theme also comprises multiple strands of systems-related research including user-centred design, participatory and co-creation design methodologies, prototyping, performance analyses including assessments of accuracy, reliability, interaction and human factors, and evaluations of usability and user experience.
The theme comprises a community of researchers with intersecting interdisciplinary interests including:
- Cloud computing
- Complex systems simulation and design
- Interactive and smart systems
- Systems and usability engineering
- Wearables and Internet of Things (IoT) devices
