BADGER logo When a GP needs a specialist’s input with the care of a patient, they may use Advice & Guidance. Advice & Guidance is an electronic way for a GP to ask the specialist a clinical question, and for the specialist to reply to the GP with an answer. The GP normally receives an answer within a few days. The BADGER study is looking at the use of Advice & Guidance by GPs and specialists and we want to find out about patients’ experiences and your views of how Advice & Guidance is and can be used by GPs and specialists.

We are looking to recruit patients whose GP has recently used Advice & Guidance in relation to their care.

What is Advice and Guidance?

When a GP needs a specialist’s input with the care of a patient, they may use Advice & Guidance. Advice & Guidance is an electronic way for a GP to ask the specialist a clinical question, and for the specialist to reply to the GP with an answer. The GP normally receives an answer within a few days. This is different to a routine referral to see a specialist which does not allow a conversation between the GP and the specialist and can take months or years to see the specialist:
