Guidelines for conducting qualitative research
Always make sure you discuss the instructions and guidelines for your research with your supervisor. They will provide the definitive answer for your work. For undergraduate students please note that individual supervisors may vary in the advice they give. You should follow what your supervisor tells you to do.
For students in the School of Psychology, the Guide to Writing a Qualitative Lab Report is a valuable reference source.
All psychological research must adhere to the British Psychological Society (BPS) Code of Ethics and Conduct, which can be found on the Ethics section BPS website with other relevant policy documents. Some BPS guidelines are of particular relevance for qualitative researchers. These include:
- Code of Human research Ethics
- Ethics Guidelines for Internet-mediated Research
