Online safeguarding

Children and Adults at Risk may suffer abuse via social media, text messages, and emails or in the course of online chats and other interactive online media. Abuse can take many forms, but includes cyberbullying, emotional abuse, grooming, sexting, sexual abuse and sexual exploitation.

The NSPCC provides detailed advice on online abuse in relation to children which can be found here

Any concern related to online abuse should be reported to a Safeguarding Coordinator, however, other University polices and processes may be relevant if the concern relates to issues such as bullying and harassment, use of IT, use of social
media, or staff or student conduct.

A full list of related polices and processes can be found in section 6 of the University Safeguarding Policy.

Further guidance on Online Safeguarding for both Staff and Students can be found here: Online Safeguarding Guidance.
