Biography
Former Programme Lead for forensics at the University of Greenwich (Medway) having worked in higher education since 2011, first as a technician and later moved into academic roles. Previously trained with Kent, Sussex and the Metropolitan Police services completing a Masters in Chemistry by Research whilst working with SCD6 (Met). Whilst at Greenwich leading 10 programmes including forensic science, forensic science with criminology and forensic science with digital investigation, and module lead for 4 module. In the last 4 years collaborated with colleagues in LOCATE international and innocence project London, and undertook various exchange training opportunities with Kent Fire and Rescue. Charlie joins Keele, excited for the new adventure.
Research and scholarship
Whilst training at Sussex, Charlie undertook research in fingermark persistence. Moving into acid etching of VIN numbers to combat car cloning with SCD6 in the Met. Most recently looking into bacteria and decomposition studies.
Teaching
Specialising initially in scene investigation and fraudulent documents, over the years Charlie has developed materials on arson investigation, ballistics, microscopy, stratedgy and action plans, criminal law, cognitive interviewing as well as a range of chemical analysis relating to forensic investigations.
