Emma Hough

Biography

Emma obtained her 2:1 with Honours degree in Forensic Science and Criminology from Keele University in 2014.

In 2015 she started working for Staffordshire Police within their Digital Forensics Unit as a Digital Forensics Investigator. Over the 8 and half years she worked within the unit, she gained experience and skills of acquiring and preserving digital media files and processing evidence for different types of offences, such as major crimes, fraud and child exploitation. She gained technical skills with a number of different softwares, such as EnCase, X-Ways and AXIOM. During her time with Staffordshire Police she also helped to create Operation Safenet, where members of the Digital Forensics Unit and police officers from the Child Exploitation Team would together conduct warrants in Staffordshire to examine devices at the scene for a faster conviction.

In October 2023 she joined the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences as a Lecturer in Forensic Science, specialising in Digital Forensics.
