Umberto Battino

Biography

Umberto Battino is an Italian astrophysicist whose main research focuses on stellar evolution and nucleosynthesis, particularly the advanced evolutionary phases of low- and intermediate-mass stars, physics of Type Ia supernova progenitors and the origin of elements heavier than iron in the Solar System. He earned his PhD in 2015 at the University of Basel, Switzerland, under the supervision of Prof. Friedel Thielemann. Since then, he has moved to the UK, where he has spent his entire postdoctoral career.
