'Circling (again)'

On June 29, 2.00-3.30 pm Anna Macdonald, Ceri Morgan and Anthony Wrigley are having an online event to share some of the findings of the arts-based project ‘Circling’, which was made with people who live with chronic pain. The event will involve some reflections about the work from the artist, researchers and participants and it would be great if you could be there. Please email Ceri at c.m.morgan@keele.ac.uk if you would like a link to the event (details below).

Circling (again) explores the relationship of movement and time within the experience of living with chronic pain. The work emerged from a collaborative fellowship project, awarded to dance and moving image artist, Anna Macdonald and literary geographer and writer, Ceri Morgan by Keele University's Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences (2018/19). The fellowship brought together geopoetics (site-responsive creative practices) dance and film and involved working for over a year with six participants with a variety of chronic pain conditions. In 2019-20, the Keele Institute for Social Inclusion awarded funding to develop the work further to focus on the relationship between chronicity, pain and hope in collaboration with bioethicist, Professor Anthony Wrigley.

The original moving image exhibition Circling was closed due to lockdown: however ArtsKeele and the Keele institute of Social Inclusion commissioned a re-imagined version of the work that can be viewed entirely on-line. This new work can be found via the ArtsKeele website or at www.circlingartproject.co.uk. If you are viewing on a mobile or handheld device please rotate to landscape for the best experience and watch with the sound on.
