Community Music Day June 2019

On 29 June 2019, we invited local musicians of all ages and people keen to find out about music to the New Vic Theatre in Newcastle-under-Lyme. Despite the rocketing temperatures and a lot of competing events, we had a good number of people come through the doors to find out more about making music in the local area.
People of all ages interested in music came along to find out more, show off their own skills and try out new instruments. Music teachers brought their ensembles to perform, we learned a new song, and much music was made!
Children came to try out new instruments and we managed to help a little boy make his first real sound on a flute and a trumpet! He’s looking forward to starting flute lessons in September with Entrust Music Service.
This project is led by Dr Alexandra Lamont from the School of Psychology at Keele University. Dr Fiorella Montero-Diaz from Music, School of Humanities, Keele University is the co-investigator.
