Dr Laura Pritchard-Jones (PI), Dr Mark Eccleston-Turner (CI) and Professor Alison Brammer (CI) have been awarded £106,824 by The Health Foundation to investigate the impact of COVID-19 on adult social care and safeguarding. The project will be looking at the impact COVID-19 has had on these areas, and particularly around the impact the pandemic has had on how local authorities and Safeguarding Adults Boards meet their legal obligations under relevant social care and safeguarding legislation. The team will be working with both local authorities and Safeguarding Adults Boards to conduct the research. It will provide a much more comprehensive understanding as to what changes are happening as a result of COVID-19 in these areas, and how these changes can be used as evidence to support delivery of social care, social work, and safeguarding in the future.
