A new partnership
Keele University has been named as a “preferred partner” in a scholarship scheme supporting British Muslim students into Higher Education.
According to The Aziz Foundation, the British Muslim community is one of the most disadvantaged in the country in terms of socio-economic and educational indicators.
To combat this, the Foundation runs a Master’s scholarship scheme to help empower British Muslims to bring positive change to their communities and beyond, by supporting them to study postgraduate qualifications in Law, Policy, Tech, Sustainability, Media and Journalism, and Arts and Culture. The Foundation’s Scholarship Programme will support those who aspire to make a positive contribution to society, and those with a vision of how they can be most impactful.
Supporting students to bring positive change
Since 2019, The Aziz Foundation has awarded over 500+ scholarships, which cover a range of disciplines, and 65% awarded to women.
Keele is one of 34 preferred partner universities that have signed up for the scheme, with applications now open.
Commitment to equality
Professor Kristyan Spelman Miller, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Students at Keele University, said: “As a university we are firmly committed to equality of opportunity. By partnering with the Aziz Foundation we will be supporting the most talented students with ambition to bring about positive change in society through their engagement in further study. We are delighted to be offering scholarships through this programme and look forward to welcoming our first successful applicants.”
Ibrahim Mohammed, Communications Manager at the Aziz Foundation, said: “We are thrilled to announce that Keele University has become one of the Foundation’s Preferred Partners, demonstrating a commitment to extending Widening Participation at the postgraduate level and reducing education inequalities for minority students.
“We look forward to working closely with the university to widen access and increase opportunities at the postgraduate taught level for British Muslim communities.”
