Clarence Bongkos Malakun
One of the first cohort of International Relations graduates, Datuk Seri Panglima Clarence Bongkos Malakun (1975-1977).
Clarence is currently the President of the National Council of Justices of the Peace, Malaysia as well as President of the Sabah State JP Council. He is also the Chairman of the Government think-tank, known as the Institute for Development Studies (Sabah).
Recently, he was bestowed with Sabah’s highest decoration: the Seri Panglima Darjah Kinabalu (SPDK) which carries the title ‘Datuk Seri Panglima’, by his Excellency the Governor of Sabah on the occasion of the Governor's 63rd official Birthday (October 2009, photo).
Clarence was an elected member of the Sabah Legislative Assembly from 1999-2004, Deputy Speaker in 1985, and a nominated State Assemblyman from 1985-1994. From 1980-1985, he served in various capacities as District Officer, Local Authority Chairman and Permanent Secretary of a Government Ministry.
He is also currently the Deputy President of the KDCA, the largest indigenous Cultural Association in Sabah, Malaysia.
