Biography
I graduated from Keele University with a first class dual honours (BA) in Sociology and History, alongside winning the Ronnie Frankenberg prize for Outstanding Undergraduate Dissertation. After, I undertook an MRes in Social Science Research Methods at Keele where I received a distinction. I am currently a Keele funded PhD candidate and GTA in the department of Sociology.
I teach across modules including: Classical Sociology, Contemporary Social Theory, Research Methods, Investigating Social Issues, and Social Inequalities in the Contemporary World.
Within my studies, I combine both history and sociology to investigate and trace the relationship between women and consumer culture through the 19th, 20th, and into the 21st century.
Research and scholarship
My research utilises visual methodologies and women's fashion magazines to understand the relationship between Western consumer culture/capitalism and women's identities, but more specifically, how these identities and practices are adopted and incorporated over time to construct modern consumerism.
The main aim is to trace the entanglements between women's liberated fashionable subjecthood(s) and consumer culture throughout the 20th and into the 21st century.
I am supervised by Prof. Lydia Martens (Sociology), and co-supervised by Dr. Mark Featherstone (Sociology), and Dr. Ben Anderson (History).
