Biography

Robert Ladrech took his M.A. and PhD. at the University of California at Santa Barbara and taught in the U.S. before coming to Keele University. His research focuses on the politics of climate change, as well as the relationship between party politics and European integration, with a particular interest in social democratic parties. He is also, more generally, interested in the impact of the European Union on domestic politics (Europeanization).  He completed a British Academy-funded project on ‘Social Democratic Parties and Climate Change’(2010) and in 2013 was awarded a research grant by the ESRC for the project ‘Climate Policy and Political Parties’.  He was also a Co-Investigator on an ESRC-funded project called 'Europeanisation and National Political Parties' (2003-7).

Professor Ladrech was a Visiting professor at the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium from 2005 to 2016, where he supervised M.A. dissertation in the area of Europeanization studies. He was a member of the executive committee of the University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES) from 2014 to 2016.
