Biography

Liam is an interdisciplinary and applied social science academic based in the School of Social, Political and Global Studies. Liam is currently based in Criminology, where Liam teaches on a range of undergraduate and post-graduate courses. Liam has worked across several HE institutions across the North West of England and Yorkshire, since 2013, most recently in the Department of Criminology at University of Manchester (2018-2022).

Research and scholarship

My research and scholarship interests/ expertise are currently concerned with the intersections of education studies, youth studies and youth justice, youth work/ youth support, ethics, care, applied qualitative research methods and Social Network Analysis (SNA) [qualitative and participatory methods]. I have a growing research interest in loneliness and social isolation and ecologies of care.

Teaching

I currently teach across the BA (Hons) Criminology and Combined Honours programme and MA Criminology and Criminal Justice. I supervise both undergraduate and post-graduate taught dissertations.

I was shortlisted for a University faculty-wide recognition award in 2020 at the University of Manchester, for my service and online teaching methods during the initial COVID-19 lockdown.

Supervision

I current supervise across Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught programmes.
I am also interested in supervising future PGR project related to youth studies, ethics, intersectionality, social justice and care.
