Move in day

Please make sure you have completed your online accommodation induction before you arrive on campus. This is important, as you'll need to book your arrival slot as part of this.

Arrival slots are one-hour long, and are available to book between: 

• 9am-5pm on Wednesday 22 January
• 11am-8pm on Thursday 23 January

You will also be able to advise us of an alternative arrival date. 
Please make sure that you do not book an arrival for earlier than your contract start date. 

At the end of the induction, you will be issued with your accommodation key collection pass - please either print this and bring it with you or make sure you have a copy on your mobile device. We will not be able to give you your keys without this.  

Please stick to your arrival slot – which you can book online as part of your accommodation induction – wherever possible. You will need to have your accommodation key collection pass, either a printed or digital copy, ready when you arrive. 

To help us process key collections as quickly as possible, please ask friends and family to stay outside the building while you come in to collect your keys. If you arrive by taxi, please ask your driver to wait while you collect your keys so they can take you to your accommodation afterwards.

Please note that you are the only person who can collect your keys.

Where you collect your keys from will depend on your arrival date and time: 

Wednesday 22 January

• 9am-5pm: Chancellor’s Building 
• After 5pm: Courtyard by Marriott hotel 

Thursday 23 January

• 9am-5pm: Chancellor’s Building 
• After 5pm: Courtyard by Marriott hotel 

If you have booked to arrive outside of these dates, please do the following: 

If you arrive between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, please go to the Chancellor’s Building and call our Accommodation team on 07469 414739. One of our team will then come to meet you and give you your key.  

If you arrive after 5pm or over the weekend, please go to the Courtyard by Marriott hotel where one of the team will be able to help you. 

Please note that if you arrive on a different day to the date you booked, there may be a wait while we arrange to have your key brought to you. Please don’t arrive earlier than your booked day as your accommodation may not be available for you. 

To help you move in you can park your vehicle (if you have one) next to your halls of residence after collecting your keys, unload your belongings and move them into your bedroom. After this time, and before you unpack, you will need to move your vehicle to one of the main University pay and display car parks or a permit holders car park (if you are eligible for a permit).

Once you’re in your room on campus, it’s helpful if you can check it over. If there is any damage or something is broken or unclean, please log any concerns via the Self-Service Desk. Inside your room, you’ll find your copy of the Student Accommodation Handbook. Keep this somewhere safe as it contains lots of information about the facilities in your hall, as well as explaining key regulations from your contract on what is expected from you.

All rooms are fully furnished and a cleaning service is provided in all communal areas and bathrooms. Kitchen facilities are available in all residences. Please remember to bring the items listed in this packing checklist.

Shortly after you arrive, you will need to check your room inventory (items in your bedroom). It's very important you do this or you may be charged for any missing or damaged items when you move out. You can do this via the accommodation portal, and we recommend that you do this the day after you arrive.
