Course overview
In collaboration with the Resuscitation Council (UK) and Advanced Life Support Group, Keele University has developed a 30 credit distance learning module to provide Generic Instructor Course candidates and Life Support Instructors with an opportunity to evidence their on-going professional development.
Overview
This distance learning module provides a sound theoretical and practical basis for good teaching and assessment practice; knowledge and skills that the student can utilise both within the workplace and whilst teaching within the faculty of a life support course.
This 30 credit academic module can be undertaken by candidates as a standalone module or incorporated into a full masters award via RPL, subject to meeting University requirements.
Successful completion of this 30 credit module will exempt you from the Adult Learning Theory and its Application to Multidisciplinary Healthcare Simulation Education module on two of our postgraduate programmes:
Module aims
The module aim is to equip clinical teachers with knowledge and skills related to the presentation of life support education, based on a sound theoretical and practical basis. This includes a focus on effective teaching through multiple modalities, student learning, feedback and assessment.
Entry requirements
Applicants must have successfully completed and passed a Generic Instructor Course AND be an instructor/instructor candidate on the UK Advanced Life Support or Advanced Paediatric Life Support Courses, or equivalent.
Applicants will also hold professional registration unless-
a) retired from registration, but still active as instructor or
b) a non-clinical medical educator with appropriate background and experience.
Please contact nursing.cpd@keele.ac.uk if you have any questions regarding your eligibility for this module.
