During the visit the two universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding, committing to to seek opportunities for joint research between Keele and ULAB’s Centre for Sustainable Development.
The partnership will also allow both universities to apply for grants through collaboration, as well as facilitating student exchange programmes and teaching opportunities in both institutions.
Dr George said: “Our two institutions have complementary strengths in areas essential for furthering our understanding of how to prepare for and reduce some of the negative impacts of climate change on islands. Our work is focusing on Bangladesh and the UK and this initial visit has laid a strong foundation which we hope to build on.”
