What you'll learn
You will study the different concepts and theories that underpin enterprise, intrapreneurship and entrepreneurship, identifying opportunities as well as validation and venture creation tools. The programme will support the advancement of your knowledge of the role of entrepreneurship, enterprise, and innovation within different organisations and business contexts, and further your understanding of sustainability models, so you can focus on becoming a purpose-driven entrepreneur.
How can entrepreneurship and innovation improve sustainable development and change for the better what organisations do and how they do it? Our programme explores this growing need for changing to a more sustainable way of operating and examines the nature, determinants, and consequences of entrepreneurship and innovation. Plus, you will discover the different methods, tools, and techniques firms use to integrate environmental sustainability into their innovation strategies.
Lending itself to problem-solving and innovation is the concept of 'design thinking'. You will enhance your understanding of this excellent tool which aids identifying and producing social value, engaging in social innovation, and challenges traditional management models. With its human-centred approach and focus on empathy, design thinking will give you the tools to devise new venture ideas and social innovations.
The programme brings together current debates and practices in international business and gives you a valuable insight into the different economic, political and technological processes that impact international business activities. There’s a focus on introducing you to the key globalisation, international trade and investment theories, drawing upon case studies from different sectors to consolidate your understanding.
Theories and concepts underpinning organisational leadership are examined, while you reflect on your own knowledge and experience in the subject. Through specific learning exercises, you'll strengthen your leadership practice, enabling you to effectively handle future management challenges in your career.
You’ll continue to broaden your management knowledge by investigating the current challenges faced by marketing managers in the modern digital age. Evaluating ‘real-life’ marketing situations in creative and innovative ways, and studying the importance of ethics and sustainability in strategic marketing activities will strengthen your comprehension of their significance in marketing.
The key concepts and techniques around accounting for decision-making purposes will improve your insight into how company accounts can be assessed to inform effective business decision-making.
From the spark of an initial business idea to creating a business plan, there are many key steps that are integral to growing a new venture. By understanding the different theories of enterprise and leadership and applying these to a project to develop market research using Canvas and Lean Start-up methodologies, you’ll begin your journey to producing that highly investable business plan.
Experience first-hand running your own pop-up enterprise, gaining invaluable insights into the intricacies of planning and managing a real business venture. You will embrace on-the-job learning as you apply theories and tools learned in this programme, enhancing and broadening your expertise, skills and competencies in entrepreneurship and working within the dynamic environment of risk and uncertainty.
Refine your abilities in research and analysis, enabling you to adeptly scope a research project or engage in work-based research or consulting work. You will also explore the ethical considerations of projects and design suitable methodologies.

- MAN-40319 Design Thinking and Innovation
You will be introduced to this important innovation tool and mode of management. With its human-centred approach and a focus on empathy you will discover how it is an excellent tool for identifying and producing social value and engaging in social innovation. How can design thinking be used in problem solving is examined, you will gain the tools to develop solutions and innovations that can lead to near ideas, reflect critically about different innovation tools and how design thinking challenges traditional management models. - MAN-40206 Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Sustainable Development
This module will improve your sustainability literacy by considering the need for change to a more sustainable way of doing things. You will develop your understanding of the different methods, tools and techniques firms use to embed environmental sustainability in their innovation strategies and explore the nature, determinants and consequences of entrepreneurship and innovation.

Develop your leadership skills on this module. You will examine theories and concepts that underpin organisational leadership, gain the tools for solving leadership dilemmas facing contemporary organisations and reflect on and evaluate leadership knowledge and the practice of leadership. - MAN-40128 Marketing Management in the Digital Age
This module investigates the challenges faced by marketing managers in the digital age and how theory can provide solutions to these issues. This module will introduce you to key concepts and techniques in Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Financial Management. It explores how managers assess company accounts to inform and enhance their decision-making. - MAN-40114 International Business Context
This module will allow you to explore the current debates and practices in global business. Drawing on examples from different sectors and your own experiences you will assess the relationship between leadership and practice. You will be introduced to globalisation, international trade and investment theories, and gain insights into the economic, political and technological process that influence international business activities.

- MAN-40170 Developing an Investable Business Plan
Examining the different steps a new venture takes, this module explores developing that initial business idea to creating a business plan to secure funding. You will develop your understanding of enterprise and entrepreneurship theories and relate these to practice through a specific project. - MAN-40162 Enterprise and Innovation Portfolio
Engage in dilemma based problem solving and learn to recognise the connections between local, national and international issues and understand the conditions that facilitate or hinder innovation. - MAN-40317 Running a Business
This module provides the opportunity to run a pop-up enterprise and experience the process of planning and running a real business. Through on the job learning you will apply the theories and tools acquired on this programme and deepen and extend your knowledge, skills and competencies around entrepreneurship and working in the context of risk and uncertainty.
Semester 3
Compulsory
- MAN-40192 Research Methods
Build upon your research and analytical skills to prepare you to tackle future work-based research and consultancy work.
Research dissertation
The research dissertation is a formal written academic project of between 10,000 and 15,000 words, making it ideal preparation for future academic research at MPhil or PhD level or for the report-writing and scrutiny expected of senior management professionals. Taking inspiration from your own interests, and with support throughout from a supervisor with relevant expertise, you’ll choose a topic to research in the field of economics.
Consultancy Project
During June to September, you will spend eight to 12 weeks undertaking a marketing research project on behalf of an organisation (chosen by Keele Business School). You’ll put into practice what you’ve learned, developing and applying your skills to solve a business problem, issue or focus on a specific project. As part of the eventual assessment, you’ll present your findings to the host organisation, exactly as you would do within the workplace.

Entrepreneurship pathway
If you have an idea for a new business venture, this module provides you with the time, space and expertise to develop it. You will work in the Smart Innovation Hub and will have access to a range of workshops and advice from experts who have successfully developed new business ventures. You will also have access to a network of entrepreneurs and business advisers to help you to utilise your time to full advantage.

How you'll be taught
Our teaching and learning strategy is wide-ranging and innovative, seeking to give you a rich learning environment that draws actively upon leading edge research, as well as current business practice.
There is a strong emphasis on engagement with 'real world' businesses in our programme and we expect you to apply knowledge from your own environment and experiences.
We encourage and support independent learning and active research allowing you to explore venture creation ideas and opportunities, and engage with different networks.
You will learn through a variety of methods which may include:

How is the programme assessed?
We use a wide variety of assessment methods on this programme which will reflect the breadth of knowledge and skills you will develop on this Entrepreneurship MSc. These methods may include:
- Reflections where you will identify your own experiences and opinions.
- Essays, including some based-on case study material will assess the quality and application of your knowledge.
- Management reports will test your knowledge of topics such as research methodologies, your ability to formulate research questions and answer them appropriately.
- Enterprise and innovation portfolio will allow you to reflect on entrepreneurial activity in the development of your new business venture.
- Oral presentations will assess your subject knowledge, understanding and teamworking skills.
- The applied dissertation will examine your capabilities to work independently, formulate and competently answer a specific research topic.
- If you undertake a Consultancy Project, you will be tested on your ability to work independently with business clients on a specific project of benefit to that organisation. You will undertake a final project report and presentation as part of this project's assessment.
- The Entrepreneurship project will assess your ability to identify, develop and validate an opportunity. It tests your ability to research, build stakeholder networks and to evaluate a business case.
