Humanities Master's Scholarship
The award
In 2025 we aim to award a number of scholarships to students on our master’s courses in Humanities. We aim to award scholarships up to £1,000. All students, Home (UK) and International, are eligible to apply for these scholarships.
To help you with the funding of your master’s, we offer scholarships to students on the following courses in Humanities:
- MA Creative and Cultural Industries
- MA Creative Writing
- MA Digital Media and Society
- MA English Literatures
- MA History
Eligibility
- You will need to apply for one of the above courses to be eligible for this award.
- You must be registered on, and attending, a taught postgraduate course that equates to at least one year's full-time study at postgraduate level and leads to a named award of at least Postgraduate Diploma level at Keele University. This means, for example, that students who attain, or are registered on, a Postgraduate Certificate course, will not receive an award. Students registered for a PhD or an MPhil are not eligible to receive an award.
- The Scholarship is for students who will be based at Keele University on the courses listed above and start their studies in September 2025. The award cannot be used for any other year of entry.
- Only self-funded international students are eligible, and you must be confirmed as an overseas student for fee paying purposes. The Scholarship is not open to students who are in receipt of funding from external bodies such as local government, charities or private organisations.
Exceptions
- Students registered for a PhD or an MPhil are not eligible to receive an award.
- The scholarship is not available for students studying fully online courses delivered by Keele.
Further information and how to apply
Qualifying recipients of the scholarships will receive the award in the form of a tuition fee discount. No cash alternative is available, and the award cannot be used in place of any required deposit.
Please note that this award can be combined with the Keele Alumni Discount Keele Postgraduate Global Scholarship and the Keele Care Leavers' and Estranged Students' Bursary (if eligible) however the 20% Alumni Discount will be applied after the above Keele awards have been applied.
If you would like to be considered as an applicant for this scholarship you should supply a statement of not more than 500 words about your intended study by 1 August 2025 by 17:00 BST.
Applications are welcome from prospective students of MA programmes for September 2025 start.
If you already have a defined dissertation topic in mind, you could provide details of your research, but if you have concentrated your thinking so far on your choice of taught modules (for the MA) you might elaborate on your interests and intentions with regards to your topic.
Applications to the scholarship are not enough on their own to constitute an application for Master's study. If you haven’t already applied for a place on an MA programme you should do so via the Keele website. Your statement needs to be submitted in addition to a standard application, not in place of a standard application.
Successful applications will be announced by 1 September 2025.
Any questions about the process, and all application statements, should be sent by email to the School of Humanities Office: humanities.office@keele.ac.uk
The number and size of individual scholarships awarded depend on the quality of the applications and on the funds we have available.
Further terms and conditions apply, please see our Terms and Conditions for full details.
