Truman Scholarship
This scholarship scheme is part of the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation, a premier graduate scholarship for students based in the United States of America, interested in public service.
The award
Truman Scholarships are for US citizens, currently enrolled at a US-based accredited institution, in their penultimate year, considering pursuing careers in public service.
Truman Scholars receive up to $22,500 from the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation. In addition, successful Truman Scholars will receive a 50% tuition fee discount on eligible on-campus courses. Truman Scholars will also participate in leadership development activities and will have special opportunities for internships and employment with the US federal government.
September 2025 entry
We are offering a 50% tuition fee reduction for one-year master’s programmes for up to five successful Truman Scholars who will enrol at Keele University in September 2025. The following courses are available to Truman Scholars:
- MSc Cyber Security
- MSc Environmental Sustainability and Green Technology
- MSc Global Healthcare Leadership
Eligibility
- The selection criteria for the Truman Scholarship can be found on the Truman Scholarship website. Successful scholars also need to meet the entry criteria of their chosen course.
Exceptions
- This scholarship is not available for students studying fully online courses delivered by Keele.
Further information and how to apply
In order to apply for a Truman Scholarship, applicants should:
- Apply for a Truman Scholarship following the guidance and process laid out on the Truman Scholarship website
- If you are successful in receiving a Truman Scholarship, you may then apply online for an eligible course via the relevant postgraduate taught course page.
- When you apply to a course at Keele, you should also notify us that you are an applicant in receipt of a Truman Scholarship by emailing: admissions.truman@keele.ac.uk
If you are dependent upon receiving the Scholarship in order to study at Keele, do not apply for a course unless you are successful in becoming a Scholar - the Truman Scholarship is a very competitive award, so you should wait to confirm you are successful in becoming a scholar before applying to the University.

Qualifying recipients of the scholarships will receive the award in the form of a tuition fee discount. No cash alternative is available, and the award cannot be used in place of any required deposit.
This scholarship cannot be combined with any other awards.
