Human Anatomy BSc (Hons)

We are planning to launch a Human Anatomy BSc (Hons) and hope to welcome our first intake in September 2025. 

This course is ‘subject to validation’ which means that it is in the last stages of the validation process, awaiting final approval. Validation is a rigorous process undertaken with academic staff, students, independent subject experts and employers to ensure the course is of high quality, and able to prepare students well for their future employment or further study. Validation is not guaranteed. 

About the programme

Discover the complexities of human anatomy on our BSc programme, designed to provide a thorough understanding of the body’s structure and function. You’ll gain unrivalled insight into clinically applied anatomy and develop the essential skills and knowledge for careers in healthcare, education or research. As the only UK anatomy department with direct, on-site access to an anatomy and surgical training centre you will benefit from world-class teaching laboratories as part of your education, and enhance your practical skills- including dissection.

You will also have the opportunity to train as an educator and graduate with the Associate Fellowship Award from the Higher Education Academy, a unique feature of this programme.

The Human Anatomy BSc combines theory and practical experience and aims to:

  • Equip you with a thorough understanding of human anatomy from its history, techniques and fundamental principles to an in-depth focus on cadaveric anatomy and dissection. 
  • Develop your practical skills with hands-on experience through laboratory work and dissection which are essential for anatomical research and clinical practice.
  • Build an evidence base to demonstrate your anatomical and pedagogical skills and understanding so you can excel in the field of anatomy and related disciplines. 
  • Foster your analytical thinking and research abilities through projects and advanced studies in an authentic learning environment that benefits from our strong links with clinical, academic and the private sector colleagues.  
  • Prepare you for different career pathways by providing opportunities for you to engage with networks including anatomical societies and early career anatomists and establish a commitment to continue your professional development in the field of anatomy.
