Occupational Therapists help people of all ages to develop, recover, or maintain the skills they need for daily living and working. Our accredited and approved Occupational Therapy BSc combines innovative teaching, hands-on practice-based experience, and cutting-edge facilities to prepare you for a dynamic role in this rapidly evolving profession. Our supportive learning environment and focus on the contribution that meaningful occupation has to the physical and mental health and wellbeing of individuals will empower you to become a confident, compassionate occupational therapist ready to make a difference.

Course overview
The Occupational Therapy programme is designed to give you the skills, knowledge, and professional identity needed to thrive in this rewarding and evolving field. Occupational Therapy is all about helping people improve their health and wellbeing by participating in their meaningful occupations and activities of daily life. This course focuses on how important these activities are for both physical and mental health, preparing you to make a real difference in the lives of individuals and communities.
Our curriculum is based on the latest research and reflects current practices in the UK and internationally, ensuring you’re ready for the demands of today’s job market. You’ll benefit from a variety of hands-on learning experiences in different settings, including the NHS, private healthcare, and community organisations, so you’re well-prepared for your future career.
You’ll also have the chance to work alongside students from other health courses, helping you develop teamwork skills. Our programme aims to support the development of a strong sense of professional identity, professionalism and core knowledge and skills. By the time you graduate, you’ll be ready to make a positive impact both within the occupational therapy community and in the lives of the individuals, communities and populations in which you choose to work.

We encourage applications with the IBCP but recognise that your combination of qualifications may differ depending on where you are studying.
If you are taking a BTEC National Diploma / Diploma with one or more Higher Levels, your offer will be similar to our BTEC + A Level offer (see 'BTEC National Diploma / Diploma') but with an HL requirement of 6 for A, 5 for B, or 4 for C.

Additional information
Health checks and DBS clearance
Offers are subject to Occupational Health clearances and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance. The University follows the DBS Code of Practice in these issues and can provide a copy of the Code on request.
The School requires students to become student members of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT). Student membership of the RCOT provides access to a range of resources and provides insurance for practice placements. Further information can be found at Student Membership - RCOT.
Application process
Application is via UCAS. The UCAS application is scored. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview. This can be either in person or remotely as appropriate.
English language requirements
All our courses require an English language qualification or test. Most students meet this through a 4 or C in GCSE English. Please visit our English Language pages for details, including test information for international students. For students who require a test, this course requires a result from Group C.

Fees and funding
Tuition fees for 2025/26 academic year
- UK: £9,535 for the 2025/6 academic year (subject to Parliamentary approval).
- International: Band 2, £20,200 for the 2025/26 academic year
Please note, our 2026/27 entry fees have not yet been set. We set our fees on an annual basis and they will be updated here once set.
For Home students, the University's fees are regulated by the UK Government and may be subject to change in subsequent years of your course in-line with government policy or legal requirements. For continuing international students, fees will increase annually by RPI, with a maximum cap of 5% per year.

Funding
Eligible students can apply for funding support via the NHS Learning Support Fund, which includes a £5,000 training grant, a parental support allowance and certain travel and accommodation costs for placements. Teaching, learning and assessment
The programme employs a variety of teaching methods to cater to different learning styles and to ensure a comprehensive educational experience. These methods include interactive lectures, small group workshops, tutorials, simulation and role play, and practice-based learning.
