Net Zero Carbon commitment

Keele University was one of the first UK Universities to declare a climate emergency, in May 2019, and set an ambitious target to be carbon neutral by 2030.

Keele's Low Carbon Energy Generation Park will generate up to 50% of the University’s campus electricity requirements from renewable sources, saving around 1,500 tonnes of carbon emissions each year, significantly reducing the University's carbon footprint.

However, achieving Net Zero Carbon requires us to decarbonise all of our activities, from energy to travel to the purchase of goods and services.

This talk and Q&A session, hosted by Huw Evans (Keele's Environmental Manager) and Elliot Jones (Keele's Energy Manager), will provide an overview of Keele's carbon footprint (scope 1, 2 and 3) and the current plans and actions that are underway to create a pathway to achieving net zero carbon.

Questions and insights from attendees are welcomed at the end of the session to develop our knowledge and understanding of the challenges and solutions needed for society to transition to net zero carbon.
