Keele University VegBox scheme
Think Green (Keele in Transition) a student-led service within the student experience, launched last week the VegBox scheme
for staff, students and local residents. The initiative aims at raising Keele community' s awareness on healthy eating, on consuming local organic produces and on caring about the environment.
The products are purchased in bulks from a local retailer and then sold at a small price. Students decided to volunteer to cut the delivery and distribution cost and to ensure that fresh and healthy organic produce could be purchased on campus.
With over 80 orders in the first week, students are keen on making the scheme grow. Vegetarian and fruit boxes can be ordered every Thursday and then picked up the following Thursday.
