Keele students have contributed 2.5 tonnes of food to Newcastle-Staffs Food Bank through Keele Green Move Out 2017. The donated food equates to an estimated 6000 meals for members of the local community, and builds on last year's total of around 1 tonne of donated food.

Student volunteers also worked with Estates, accommodation staff at Keele's Halls of Residence, and the Sustainability Hub to collect and store household and kitchen items, which will be made available for new students in September.

A number of collection events took place to encourage as many students as possible to donate their unwanted items. Sam Gibbons, the Environment and Campus Officer and Co-President of Think:Green, ran a donation point for students' unwanted items from 28th-30th May in the Forest of Light. Drop-in Donation Sessions were also held at Halls Social Spaces on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th June with student volunteers accepting donations from 12pm-5pm each day. During the final week of term, students could take items to social spaces where student volunteers made daily collections. 

Donated items ranged from pots and pans to crockery, ironing boards and clothes airers to electricals and shoe racks. All items will be reused through sale to incoming students or being donated to local charities. The items collected through Keele Green Move Out 2017 save resources, enable previous generations of students to benefit the next generation of students, and will raise funds for Think:Green projects and activities. Surplus items will be distributed to local charities, providing benefit to local communities and providing space for items collected through Keele Green Move Out 2018.
