Sustainability Network and Sustainability Benchmark Award
The University recently launched its Sustainability Network and the Root and Branch Sustainability Awards Scheme for all Schools and Directorates.
The Sustainability Network is made up of Staff Sustainability Representatives who become the main point of contact between their School or Directorate and the Sustainability Team. Additional members of staff are welcome to join as members of the network to support their School/Directorate's Sustainability Representative and engage with activities and events organised through the network.
Our aim is to recruit a Staff Sustainability Representative in every Directorate and School in order to support the University's sustainability initiatives. In line with the University's 5th Strategic Aim, the network will also help to ensure sustainability is embedded in all activities and operations across the Keele community.
A Sustainability Benchmark Award has been introduced, and will be awarded to Schools and Directorates on completion of criteria based on the University's environmental and sustainability policies. The criteria have been created to provide flexibility and enable Schools and Directorates to implement sustainability projects which align with their priorities. The benchmark criteria will also enable Schools and Directorates to demonstrate best practice and innovation locally and through collaboration with students and other Schools/Directorates within the University, and in the local community.
In addition to the Benchmark Award, a series of individual awards will be open for nominations to recognise staff and students who make individual and team contributions to sustainability both on campus and within the wider community. There is also the opportunity to apply for funding to support sustainability projects, each of which will be eligible for Innovation in Sustainability awards.
If you would like to find out more about the Sustainability Network, Benchmark Award, or Sustainability Funding, please email the Sustainability Team. The team is also available to attend meetings or discuss the Staff Sustainability Representative role, criteria and project opportunities.
To sign up as a Staff Sustainability Representative for your School/Directorate or to join the network, please complete the sign-up form.
If your School/Directorate would like to be eligible for the Sustainability Benchmark Award for this academic year, please email the Sustainability Team by Friday 4 May 2018.
Students are also welcome to join the Sustainability Network, as Sustainability Voice Representatives, student auditors, members of Think:Green or to find our more about sustainability activities on campus.
