Sustainability project intern roles
The Education for Sustainability Team is offering two new Sustainability Project Intern roles to expand the current team and support sustainability projects on campus! The two roles are for Sustainable Food projects and Sustainable Living projects.
The new Sustainability Project Intern posts will assist the Director of Education for Sustainability, Sustainability Project Officer and Environmental Manager in embedding sustainability within the co-curriculum and the wider student and staff experience. The posts are available immediately and are part-time role on a rolling casual contract (up to 10 hours per week). The roles are open to current students studying at Keele University.
The Sustainable Food Projects Intern will support programmes such as the Weigh to Go Shop, Student Eats, Herbaceous, Community Fridge, and more. The Sustainable Living Projects Intern will support programmes such as Sustainability Halls Reps, energy and recycling campaigns in Halls and off campus, The Great Donate, Coffee Cup scheme and more.
The Sustainability Interns will support the Education for Sustainability team and wider Sustainability Team in delivering the University’s Education for Sustainability strategy and wider sustainability objectives, and will be involved in a wide range of activities including facilitating sustainability events for students and staff, assisting with sustainability projects, and supporting and promoting events and workshops. The Sustainability Interns will be assist in the development and dissemination of promotional material for the marketing and communication of sustainability education activities, as well as assisting in project evaluation and dissemination activities. The Sustainability Intern will also take a part in organising sustainability events in the co-curriculum such as an annual Keele Green Festival, Exam Plus, Induction events and more, and assist in liaising with other key stakeholders such as the Students’ Union, Keele Postgraduate Association, Estates and Development, as well as students and student societies.
Applications are welcome from individuals studying at Keele who have a background knowledge and commitment to the environment and sustainability agenda, and who have the willingness to contribute to a range of sustainability projects working closely with students and staff. Candidates with previous experience of organising and delivering events, organising volunteer groups, creating promotional and communications materials and using social media for promotional activities will be welcomed. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently, as well as being able to work as part of a team, and will have excellent communication, interpersonal, networking and organisational skills, and IT skills.
