Biodiversity

Some of this variety, e.g. the birds, has been well-studied. Much of this accumulated knowledge is available on the arboretum website.

Keele is a good site for the naturalist and the casual observer of the natural world. The many footpaths that criss-cross the University estate enable much of this natural history to be observed in relatively close quarters.

We have a varied flora and fauna including 134 birds, 25 butterflies, 500 moths and 220 plants. We also have 150 species of tree and 220 varieties of Flowering Cherry, shining a light on the the biodiversity we have on our campus.

There is a guided walk leaflet and there are several booklets that you can use to make the most of visiting the campus.

There is also a sightings page and a blog that gives detail and photos of recent sightings.
