Student placements: sustainability
Many organisations, from across a range of sectors, are recognising the importance of sustainability, and so, no matter which degree course you’re studying, sustainability could form a part of your student placement or project, equipping you with highly sought after knowledge, skills, and experience, which will help you to secure future employment.
There are a range of placements and project types at Keele:
- Undergraduate Placement Year
- Curriculum embedded short term placement
- Employer-led project-based learning in curriculum
- Employer commissioned projects and consultancy
- Postgraduate placement
- Co/extracurricular placements and projects
Maybe you’re interested in working with businesses? You could support a business to decarbonise their operations by reviewing their sustainability strategies, investigating the feasibility of onsite renewable energy, analysing their energy data, auditing their buildings, or looking into more sustainable materials.
Or perhaps you would like to work with the local community or a charity? You could investigate access to green spaces and the effects on mental and physical health or help a conservation charity reach a wider audience by improving their website and increasing social media engagement.
Maybe, education is your calling? You could use your creative skills to produce educational resources, such as films and stories, for schools and the local community, support teaching or field work activities for students, or collaborate with a local football club to educate their fans about climate change and sustainability.
Past students have worked/collaborated with:
- Local authorities
- Environmental consultancies
- Architects
- Manufacturers
- Charities/not-for-profits
- Schools
- Community groups
