In my first year 1955 I was in a hut with (amongst others) Liz Pearson who was in a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream with James (?) during that summer The lake was used as part of the scenery and apparently actors were rowed across it. This was before my year's arrival and as in 1955/56 was Liz's was doing finals I don't think she took part in further productions; but Liz's name and James too were greatly revered by the drama group! I remember Romeo and Juliet with Bernie Gibbons (now Lloyd) as Mercutio and the staging in the Clock house yard with entrances and exits off the archways there. The following year it was Bernie again with Keith Clement and Peter Brookes in Gilbert and Sullivan HMS Pinafore followed by Pirates. I often see Peter Brookes’ name in dramas in various theatres and even on TV (he was in the Midlands production of Crossroads). Roger Hands also my year was in various drama productions including Romeo and Juliet... and I think behind stage. And of course, Bernie was a professional actor and we continued to look out for him in many productions including Regents Park Open Air theatre and on TV I remember Tulla Tallianos too but did not see Lysistrata - I think I must have been in London for a term doing practical social work. She was a fantastic jiver and had an exceptional personality - she must have been great in drama. I remember Joyce Parks too who I think also used to work behind scenes.
