Our findings - feedback from residents

From a resident perspective, it involved very little for me because this project made use of the existing infrastructure that Keele already has. I had to do very little; I was only required to make myself available for boiler appointments and checks. But other than that, it had no impact on any of the appliances that I have for my heating. I just got on with what I was normally doing, and it happened. So, one of the benefits of hydrogen and blending hydrogen into the gas grid is that you can start the decarbonization of your heating system with no disruption. That is a clear benefit. But what we also found, because of all of the communication to residents about the benefits of the trial, there was a real increase in awareness of the environmental impacts of their heating systems, which some residents said they hadn't thought about before. So, what we saw was an overall increasing environmental awareness in some residents and also some changes in behaviours in terms of how they were using heating as well.
