Biography
Dr Hassan Awan is a GP undertaking a Wellcome PhD Fellowship in primary care mental health. He was born and raised in Manchester and completed his medical degree at the University of Manchester. During his General Practice training, he completed an Academic Clinical Fellowship (ACF)research Masters with the University of Central Lancashire.
Hassan's research interest is in primary care mental health. His ACF focused around Making Every Contact Count, exploring the barriers and facilitators to delivering brief interventions to people with mental health problems in primary care. His PhD work is qualitative research exploring the mental health of South Asian males with long term conditions.
Hassan also has a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He has experience teaching in Manchester, Keele and UCLAN Medical Schools.
