Jienchi Dorward

Biography

Jienchi is a Wellcome Trust Clinical PhD Fellow undertaking a DPhil at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford, supervised by Professor Chris Butler and Professor Gail Hayward.

In his DPhil he is investigating whether point-of-care viral load testing can improve management of HIV in primary care clinics in South Africa. Jienchi previously worked as a Research Clinician and Project Manager at the Centre for the AIDS Programme of Research in South Africa (CAPRISA).

Jienchi completed UK General Practice specialty training through placements in London and South Africa, before undertaking the MSc in Public Health in Developing Countries at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. He works one day a week as a locum General Practitioner.
