Keele appoints new Head of School of Chemical and Physical Sciences
Keele University is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Tasnim Munshi as the new Head of the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences.
Professor Munshi joins from the University of Lincoln where she was the Head of the School of Chemistry and had full responsibility for the management of all teaching provision within the School, including leading student recruitment-related activities. Prior to this Tasnim, a Professor of Chemistry, was the Acting Head of School of Chemistry and Forensic Science at the University of Bradford.
At Lincoln, Tasnim was instrumental in rapidly growing a newly launched School to enjoy excellent success and reputation in Chemistry and Forensic Science, reflected in leading league table positions and Chemistry achieving 94% of its research rated as world-leading or international excellent in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021.
Tasnim, who took up her new post at Keele this week, said: "I am delighted to be joining Keele University to lead the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences, and continue the excellence of its chemistry, physics and forensic science disciplines.
"Keele's dedication to pioneering research and its commitment to sustainability create a vibrant environment for exploring new scientific frontiers. These are exciting times for interdisciplinary science, as we develop new approaches at the interfaces of traditional disciplines and apply our learning to create healthier, safer, and more sustainable lives.
"I am especially looking forward to working with colleagues at Keele to create fulfilling learning experiences and strong future prospects for everyone in our School’s community and to follow the impact of our collective efforts at regional, national, and international forums."
Professor Mark Ormerod, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost, added: "We're delighted to make such a strong, experienced and exciting appointment to this pivotal position, at a time when there are some significant successes in the School to build on in terms of research grant capture, national student survey performance and league table rankings.

We believe we have secured an exceptional leader to advance the teaching, research and external engagement agendas of the School and contribute to the growth and success of the Faculty."
