• Professor Krysia Dziedzic has had her Senior Investigator status renewed by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). 
• NIHR Senior Investigators are outstanding leaders of patient and people-based research within the NIHR research community. 
• The NIHR has named 56 Senior Investigators in England in the latest round of appointments; with 27 new researchers joining the ranks, and 29 having been reappointed, including Professor Dziedzic. 

Prestigious appointment 

A Keele professor has had her prestigious role as a Senior Investigator renewed by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). 

Professor Krysia Dziedzic from Keele’s School of Medicine is one of just 29 researchers in England who has been reappointed as an NIHR Senior Investigator, a position described as being among the most prominent and prestigious researcher roles funded by the NIHR. 

NIHR Senior Investigators are outstanding leaders of patient and people-based research within the NIHR research community. Senior Investigators receive an award of £20,000 per year of appointment to fund activities that support their research.  

Research with impact 

The latest round of appointments also saw 27 new researchers in England awarded the title of Senior Investigator, bringing the College of NIHR Senior Investigators to 197 active members. 

Professor Dziedzic is a Professor of Musculoskeletal Therapies, and the Director of Keele’s Impact Accelerator Unit (IAU) which works with patients and clinicians to speed up the process of putting healthcare research findings into clinical practice. 

Professor Dziedzic said: "I’m delighted that my NIHR Senior Investigator award in Primary Care has been renewed for a further four years. It’s based on Keele’s established track record in NIHR-funded research, and patient and public involvement and engagement. The award will contribute to accelerating impact of primary care research, especially with underserved communities.”
