MSc students travel to Italy to learn more about the country's healthcare provision.
Students on the MSc in Global Healthcare Leadership course recently enjoyed a field trip to Pavia University and healthcare institutions in Italy.
The group visited organisations such as the Italian Ministry of Health, the European Cancer Centre in Milan, a healthcare department within a prison, and San Matteo public hospital. Academics from the University delivered interactive and experiential lectures to the students, as well as facilitating a range of visiting speakers, including a local GP and government health ministers.
Students also had the opportunity to visit Pavia University Medical Museum where they learned about the history of healthcare practices and approaches throughout different centuries in Italy. The group was led by Professor of Global Healthcare, Ian Cumming OBE, Programme Director Dr Suhad Daher-Nashif, Dean of Education Professor Heidi Fuller, and Module Leader Paul Jackson.
Student Jess Simms said, “The field trip has inspired me to learn more about the variety of health settings in the UK and I really appreciated that we were given time to question and learn from the specialists. The knowledge gained from being there and speaking to fellow health colleagues adds so much more context and life to the research you then read.”
