Social Sciences BSc (Hons)

We are planning to launch a Social Sciences BSc (Hons) and hope to welcome our first intake in September 2026. 

This course is ‘subject to validation’ which means that it is in the last stages of the validation process, awaiting final approval. Validation is a rigorous process undertaken with academic staff, students, independent subject experts and employers to ensure the course is of high quality, and able to prepare students well for their future employment or further study. Validation is not guaranteed. 

About the programme

Explore human societies, institutions, and global challenges through an interdisciplinary lens. This degree offers a flexible approach to studying social and political change, social inclusion, and social justice, drawing from a range of disciplines. You will develop the skills to critically examine the social and political structures that shape our lives.

Combining theoretical insight with applied learning, this programme equips you with essential research skills and engages you in contemporary debates. You will investigate how societies function, assess the role of key institutions, and analyse the processes that drive change.

The BSc Social Sciences aims to:

  • Develop your critical thinking skills, enabling you to navigate complex social issues and apply theory in practice.
  • Provide hands-on experience in designing and conducting research using qualitative and quantitative methods, including digital data analysis.
  • Strengthen your ability to communicate effectively, think analytically, and demonstrate leadership across diverse professional settings.

This degree offers the flexibility to shape your studies around your interests, providing a broad foundation in social sciences while allowing you to focus on the areas that matter most to you.
