PhD student, Yiwen Lin (KMS/CASIC) presented a research paper at the 16th International Symposium on New Technologies for Urban Safety of Mega Cities in Asia (USMCA2017) organised under the auspices of the World Bosai Forum/International Disaster and Risk Conference, held in November in Sendai, Japan.

The Forum for Rural Research on Health and Wellbeing (FRRESH) is innovative initiative bringing together a multi-disciplinary research team from Keele University, health and social care practitioners and commissioners, public health organisations (e.g. healthwatch), voluntary sector organisations (e.g. Mind), arts organisations and members of the public.

A Bright future for Stoke on Trent interactive installation and workshop

On Tuesday 21 November CASIC welcomed Mai Khanh Tran from Birmingham University who gave an interesting and engaging talk.

The food charter for community group North Staffordshire Community Food Network was launched by Alistair Fischer from the Public Health Department at Stoke on Trent City Council and Dr Emma Surman.

A team from the Alley Theatre, Huston, USA (https://www.alleytheatre.org/) visited CASIC on April 26-27th. The team composed of the Director of Education and Community Engagement, the Executive Manager of Education and Community Engagement and the Associate General Manager received a travel grant to research best international practices with regards to theatre-university-community partnerships.

Keele Music and Music Technology and Community Animation and Social Innovation Centre (CASIC) organised a workshop held in the New Vic Theatre on 8 March 2017. The workshop was entitled ‘How Does the Hunger Sound Like’?

Professor Latchez Hristov from Audencia Business School - Nantes was awarded by his institution a grant to research the ethos and practices of the Community Animation and Social Innovation Centre-CASIC.

On March 14, 2-4pm CASIC member Yiwen Lin gave a talk titled "The case of Blue Tourism in Minami Sanriku" which was followed by a community workshop.

Susanne Tietze (Principal Investigator) and Sarah Maitland (Co-Investigator; Goldsmith College) have been awarded an AHRC grant titled Translation and Interpretation in Multilingual Business Communities: Roles, Perspectives, Agency.
